I finished hiking and was about to leave when out of the corner of my eye I saw a bull Roosevelt Elk ambling down the beach. I tracked him in my bare feet, running crouched behind dunes. The sound of surf crashing and soft thugs of his hooves were the only sound. A moment I'll never forget.
